Description
Three years in development, the STAC cups are OREA’s answer to a deceptively difficult question
how do you make a steel cup that stacks like lab equipment but feels like something you’d actually want to drink from?
The answer sits in the shape. Featuring both an organic yet mechanical fit, the cups inter-connect at key points and lock together without any movement, so a stack of four takes up roughly the cupboard space of a single mug. The egg-shaped profile is deliberate, not too wide, not too tall, moving away from a bowl feeling while remaining easy to pour into.
The final capacity lands at 5oz or 150ml. That makes it ideal for a 1:3 espresso to milk ratio with a standard double shot pull, and equally at home with a cortado, an iced espresso, or a modest pour-over. At 7–8g of coffee, it even doubles as a micro-cupping vessel for tasting through rarer lots without committing a full bowl.
The double-wall construction pairs a 304 stainless steel exterior with a food-safe, electropolished 316 interior — the same grade used in medical equipment, chosen for its resistance to acidity and because it imparts no metallic taste whatsoever. Between the two walls sits a thick air pocket, larger than the one found in OREA’s own O1 steel brewer. The result is a cup that feels cool to the touch, but keeps the drink inside warm for longer than porcelain of the same size.
Each cup weighs approximately 70g and is dishwasher safe. Sold as a pair.
