OREA Sensory Wine Glass
Some products we stock because the market asks for them. This one we stock because after the first sample arrived at the showroom, nobody wanted to put it down. What began at OREA as a project to build the perfect glass for natural orange wines quietly became their favourite glass for wine and coffee alike, and the moment we tasted a bright, modern-processed filter from it, we understood why it belonged in Indonesia.
The Shape
Most wine glasses sit the liquid low and shallow, which flatters the wine but punishes the hand, heavy at the base, always feeling like it wants to slip. OREA raised the curve and rebalanced the weight, so the glass rests in your palm rather than fighting it. The first thing our team did with the samples was swirl one empty for a full minute, just to feel it.
The Punt
At the heart of the design is a massive punt, a deep dimple rising into the bowl that carves out a narrow, shallow interior inside a wide, comfortable exterior. It doubles as a natural fill line, keeping the right volume in the glass every pour. Decant with a little force directly onto it and it becomes an aerator too, oxygenating the pour on the way in.
The Science
That narrowed interior funnels aroma straight around the nose while limiting oxygen in the glass, so delicate aromatics stay vibrant longer instead of fading mid-session. The broad base also spreads the liquid thin, cooling a fresh brew to drinking temperature faster and keeping chilled pours colder. Pour a lively anaerobic natural into it hot, and by your second sip it’s already in the sweet spot.
Handmade
Each glass is hand-blown from lab-grade borosilicate, heat-resistant, remarkably light, and more durable than standard lime glass, then carried through more than ten steps of processing and QC before it’s boxed. A single craftsperson produces only around twenty pieces a day, so expect faint marks and tiny variations from the forming process. We genuinely love that no two on our shelf are identical.
