More room, same instincts

The O1 earned its following by being consistent, delicious, pocketable and, frankly, very cute. The O2 keeps all of that and simply gives it more height. Hole size, geometry, wall thickness and material are identical; only the chamber is taller, so it comfortably brews 12 to 28 g of coffee and 200 to 450 ml of liquid, and stretches to 10 g or 32 g with the right recipe.

OREA built it because O1 owners kept asking for a bigger version, some for a larger mug, most because they brew for two: partners, flatmates, parents, colleagues at work. It’s the brewer we wish had existed for every shared morning.

A pink worth keeping

OREA has mostly stayed with black, transparent and white. This is the exception: a creamy, sweet, floral pink, which is exactly how they’d like every coffee to taste. It first appeared on the O1 in Taipei in 2025, a tribute to the warmth of the people and the Taiwan-grown gesha the team met there, and it has since become one of OREA’s core colours.

Put it on a brew bar and try not to reach for it.

Built with unusual care

The O2 is a single-piece unibody moulded from genuine Eastman Tritan made in the USA, the same food-safe, BPA-free material Nalgene has used in hot and cold bottles for years. OREA notes that many brewers sold as Tritan are actually lower-grade PCTG, which is less impact-resistant and less clear, so they pay more for the real thing.

It took OREA nearly five years to find the right factory: a family-run boutique manufacturer in Taiwan, visited three to four times a year, producing a glossy 3 mm+ insulating wall with no injection or flow marks. OREA calls it the best-quality plastic brewer in the industry. At 67 g with no moving parts, cleanup is rinse, dry, done, and we suspect that’s the feature you’ll appreciate most on a busy morning.

The OPEN bottom, and what it does to the cup

OREA’s original OPEN bottom, shared with its Glass, Porcelain, V4 and O1 brewers, gives flat paper a ridge to stand on. The paper bends gently through the middle, guiding water toward the centre of a shallow flat bed in a more conical pattern.

The result sits between a conical and a traditional flat brewer: bright, clean, candy-like acidity with sweetness and balance intact, and a lighter, tea-like body. Because the design interferes so little and lets gravity lead, it is remarkably consistent brew to brew. If a coffee’s acidity is the whole point, this is the brewer we’d reach for. For heavier body, OREA recommends the Z1.

Two papers, many methods

With WAVE paper (traditional 185 or OREA LARGE), brewing is fast, forgiving and easy to source, with more bypass and a lighter, less concentrated cup. With FLAT paper (LARGE 185 OREA Flat or LARGE 185 Sibarist FAST Flat, sold as O2/V4 filters), bypass drops and the bed widens, giving juicier, sweeter, fuller cups.

The O2 also launches alongside OREA’s Regulators, plug-in silicone bottoms that reshape flow and taste. One series explores contact time; the other explores immersion and hybrid brewing and is compatible with the Hario Switch base. OREA’s simplest brewer may be its most versatile, and we’d encourage you to try the odd recipes too.

Is the O2 yours?

For a single cup, OREA still recommends the O1: it’s sized right and puts your kettle spout closer to the bed. If you brew for two or regularly use more than 18 g, choose the O2. Picture a weekend pour of around 24 g, split into two cups from one brew, no second round needed. That’s the moment this brewer was made for.
