OREA Brewer O2 × PERII — Creamy Purple
The Big Baby O
If you know the O1, you already know this brewer. The O2 keeps the same hole size, geometry, wall thickness and material. The only change is a taller chamber, so one unibody flat-bottom piece now holds more coffee and more water. OREA nicknamed it the Big Baby O, and honestly, we couldn’t have named it better.
Made for Two Cups
The O2 exists because O1 owners kept asking for more. Some wanted bigger brews. Others were brewing for a partner, a flatmate, a parent, or colleagues at work. Picture a slow Sunday morning where one pour fills two cups and nobody waits for a second round. The extra height also suits immersion and hybrid brewing, which work better when the brewer can hold a larger volume at once.
A Purple With a Story
This edition is a collaboration with PERII and its founder and roaster, Ayla. OREA has brewed alongside her at events in Shanghai and Guangzhou. PERII is known for a soft, distinctive purple, and for exceptional coffees sold as single doses in tiny vials.
Each brewer carries Ayla’s moon-cycle inscription, a quiet reminder to slow down while time keeps moving. The body is just translucent enough to let you watch the coffee flow through. We’ve caught ourselves staring at it mid-brew more than once.
Built Without Compromise
The O2 is a single piece of genuine Eastman Tritan made in the USA. It is food-safe and BPA-free, and it’s the same material Nalgene has long trusted for hot and cold water. OREA chose it deliberately over PCTG, a cheaper plastic often sold under the Tritan name, because real Tritan is safe at high temperatures and built to last.
Finding a maker precise enough to leave no injection or flow marks took OREA nearly five years. That maker is a family-run boutique factory in Taiwan, which OREA visits several times a year. With no moving parts and nothing to take apart, cleanup is a single rinse, which we appreciate more at the end of a long day.
How It Brews
OREA’s signature open bottom gives flat paper a ridge to rest on. The paper bows gently through the centre and guides water through the middle of a shallow bed. The cup lands between a conical and a traditional flat brewer: bright, clean, candy-like acidity balanced by sweetness, with a lighter, tea-like body. Gravity does most of the work, so results stay consistent from brew to brew, and your recipe becomes the only variable worth adjusting.
Flat filters build a wider bed with less bypass, which gives juicier, fuller cups. Use Large 185 OREA Flat or Sibarist FAST Flat filters, labelled O2/V4. Wave filters are quicker and more forgiving, and the O2 takes standard 185 Wave papers or OREA’s Large Wave. If you prefer a heavier body, OREA points you toward the Z1.
Room to Grow
OREA released its Regulators alongside the O2. These are plug-in silicone bottoms, sold separately, that reshape both flow and flavour. One series plays with contact time. The other opens up immersion and hybrid brewing and fits the Hario Switch base. Together they turn OREA’s simplest brewer into possibly its most versatile, and we’re curious which combination becomes yours.
O1 or O2?
If you brew a single cup, choose the O1. It’s sized for one serving and lets your kettle spout sit closer to the bed. If you brew for two, or usually dose more than 18 grams, the O2 is your brewer. Come hold one at our showroom, because that purple looks even better in person.
